Summer of 74. Dover, NH. From left to right: Andy Davis, bass. Brian Stevens, keys. John Kane, guitar. Jim Polychronis, drums. And me. One fan called us a ‘beautiful band.’ Is that what it takes? I guess we’ll find out, cos’ we ain’t pretty no more! It’s all about the music now. And 50 years later, I’m good with that.

Who’s got 10 good albums? The Beatles, for one. Here’s 10 good ones. Actually, four good. Four great. And two off the charts. Audacious? That’s rock and roll, baby.

We gotta do vinyl. No special editions. You’ll get your money’s worth. My main influences here. Wait. David McCallum?

Inspired by Pete. Dedicated to Cousin Tony. I miss you every day, pal.

Celebrity Corner

For this project, we’ll need a particularly creative bass player. Especially for that third album. Don’t worry, young man, you’ve already passed the audition.

I hear you’ve got a fancy pants studio in France. Well I’ve got a role for you, WOODY, in ‘BUZZARD’S LUCK.’ We’ve gotta keep you busy so you don’t have to make any more of those spooky whistling coffee commercials.

There’s also a role for you, GLASSES, in ‘BUZZARD’S LUCK.’ And a sequel to ‘THAT THING YOU DO’ where you’re managing Master Cylinder in the 7O’s.

Us Greeks gotta stick together, right?

A writer on two of my favorite shows. [not even including The Sopranos] I think you’re the man for the movie. After all, us Master Cylinders need to stick together, right?

It was at a writer’s conference in Boston in 1981 that this man, who owned a radio station in Maine, offered to help me out with my failed demo tape. Not wanting to be a bother, I mumbled something non-committal. I know you’re busy with your day job, but is that offer still open?
It was at a chicken joint in Boston in 1971 that I harangued this man about how Who’s Next wasn’t as good as Tommy. He was remarkably civil to a 19 year old idiot. Now, Who’s Next is my favorite album. In fact, it should have been a double. Can we talk again?
